Universal IPL: Treatment for sun-induced skin damage and permanent hair removal with Optimal Pulse Technology (OPT™)

In this blog, we’ll explain the process and results you can attain with a ResurFX™ treatment.

WHAT IS FRACTIONAL LASER RESURFACING?

Fractional laser skin resurfacing is a proven way to help reduce wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, and other blemishes as well as tighten skin and balance tone.

HOW IT WORKS

There are two types of skin resurfacing lasers: ablative (which removes the top layer of skin) and non ablative (which stimulates the water underneath the first layer of skin and does not require downtime).

ResurFX

The ResurFX™ laser delivers heat into the lower levels of your skin which triggers a healing reaction and renews collagen to improve the appearance of your skin.

A non-ablative solution, ResurFX uses energy that does not cause the skin to peel, which allows for a shorter recovery time.

Multiple treatments are recommended, every four to six weeks depending on the individual, and improvements start to become visible after two to three treatments.

WHY AUTUMN IS LASER SEASON

Laser-treated skin is hypersensitive to sun exposure, so we recommend undergoing laser resurfacing during fall and winter months.

You should always wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher sunscreen daily and reapply every 2-3 hours.

DOES IT HURT?

The sensation depends on the treatment, the depth and area of treatment, and your personal tolerance for pain.

We’ll apply a topical numbing cream before your treatment. Even so, patients compare the pain of laser treatments to a rubber band snapping against the skin.

After your procedure, your skin may feel like you have a slight sunburn. We’ll give you the information and products you need to recover in the best way possible.

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?

The best way to ensure a safe, effective treatment for your skin type is to schedule a consultation with a provider who has extensive training and knowledge in laser resurfacing procedures.

ALWAYS BE HONEST

Always be upfront and honest with us about your medical history and any medications or supplements that you’re taking. Your honesty will affect your healing time and the efficacy of your treatment.

We may ask if you’re prone to cold sores or fever blisters. Your treatment may induce an outbreak, so please be honest.

Diabetes, other chronic conditions, and smoking can also impact safety and results with laser resurfacing. A consultation will help you navigate these risks.

MORE THAN ONE TREATMENT

While in some cases, a single laser treatment will take care of a patient’s concerns, most non-ablative lasers call for a series of treatments to produce the most satisfying results. This is a trade-off that comes with a no-downtime treatment, but once the treatment series is complete, results are long-lasting.

YOUR TECHNICIAN MATTERS

Don’t make your pick based solely on who offers the best deal or has a brand name laser platform.
