Dermal fillers are used to add volume to the face, smooth out wrinkles and fine lines, and enhance facial contours. They are typically made of hyaluronic acid or other substances that occur naturally in the body.
Botox and Dysport are neurotoxins that temporarily paralyze the muscles in the face, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. They can also be used to treat other conditions like sweat hyperhidrosis.
Kybella is used to reduce the appearance of a double chin by dissolving fat cells in the area.
SkinVive by Juvederm is the first and only FDA-approved hyaluronic acid (HA) microdroplet injectable that can be used to improve skin smthooness in the cheek area.

How Injectables Work

At Valley Dermatology, we work with each client to determine which filler (or a combination of fillers and injectables) will yield the best results for your desired look. Here is a more in-depth look at treatments:

Botox & Dysport

Botox and Dysport are both injectable neurotoxins that work by temporarily blocking nerve signals to the muscles that cause wrinkles and fine lines. When injected into specific facial muscles, Botox and Dysport cause those muscles to relax, smoothing out wrinkles and reducing the appearance of fine lines. Both are quick, easy and painless treatment options with results lasting for several months. These injectables can be used for wrinkles and fine lines in the forehead, around the eyes (crow’s feet), around the lips, on the side of the nose, for marionette lines near the mouth and in the chin to correct dimpling. These two injectables can also be safely used for the treatment of excessive sweating, a condition known as hyperhidrosis. They are injected into the specific area to block the signals that stimulate sweat glands. The treatment area for this condition is the underarms (axillae).

Kybella

Kybella is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that is used to reduce submental fat, also known as a “double chin.” It contains a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, a substance that is naturally produced by the body to help break down and absorb dietary fat.

When Kybella is injected into the submental fat, it destroys the fat cells, which are then naturally eliminated by the body over the course of several weeks. The treatment is typically administered in a series of two to four sessions, spaced several weeks apart, and results in a more defined jawline and a reduction in the appearance of a double chin.

SkinVive

While SkinVive falls within the category of dermal fillers, its mechanism differs from traditional volume-enhancing fillers. Rather than adding volume, SkinVive focuses on enhancing skin health and hydration. Harnessing the power of hyaluronic acid, a sophisticated molecule with a capacity to attract and retain moisture, this injectable treatment creates a luminous radiance in the skin. The increased moisture levels contribute to a smoother and softer appearance on the cheeks.

This product can provide lasting results for up to 6 months with optimal treatment. Also, in a clinical study, patients treated with SkinVive reported higher satisfaction with how glowing, hydrated, refreshed, and healthy their skin looked.

Frequently Asked Questions

When Will I See Results From My Injectables?

For injectables, clients can see results within a few days, but the full results can be seen a few weeks later after the injectables have settled and any bruising has subsided.

Can I Combine Cosmetic Injectables With Botox/Dysport?

Yes, you can combine Botox with fillers. Botox prevents wrinkles from forming, while fillers can help smooth the wrinkles you have and restore facial volume. We've found that Botox and fillers together can further improve anti-aging results.

Do Injectables and Fillers Hurt?
